To many who know me, it should come to no surprise that my first fashion-related entry is dedicated to shoes.
Right now I am obsessed with lace-up heels, an obsession that began back in February when my dear friend Vannary and I trudged through the snow to Target for the opening of the Prabal Gurung collection. When we eyed a pair of Gurung’s lace-up stilettos and slipped them on, we gasped in chorus. My fate was sealed. I happily purchased two pairs of these heels, one in black and one in delicious multi-neon colors. Fast forward to summer, and I can’t tell you how often I got stopped in the streets of New York City by women complimenting me on my shoes, my dirty little $30 secret!
The lace trend is continuing strongly this fall, and I’ve graduated to a beautiful suede pair from Australian brand, Windsor Smith, a much more wallet-friendly alternative to a pair inspired by Giuseppe Zanotti.
For those thinking about investing in a lace-up, here are few inspirations:
- Slate | Shutz – on my wish list, perfect to punch up a simple, black outfit
- Gladly | Steve Madden
- Arela | Sam Edelman
- Ella | Jason Wu
The next time you throw on a pair of jeans for dinner out with friends or that classic LBD for a cocktail event, consider a lace-up heel as an easy way to dress up and add flair to your outfit. On a side note: Is it just me, or do these shoes look like corsets on your tootsies?
Nevertheless, the possibilities with these shoes are numerous, and I'm excited to suck it in, lace 'em up, and strut into fall!
