Goin' Green

Ahhhh I'm in love with tropical prints this summer, especially anything with palm fronds and pineapples. I'm also a sucker for rompers and dresses with pockets. So when I spotted this wonderful trifecta in an H&M storefront, a romper in a palm frond print with pockets, I was a woman obsessed. It took a visit to three different H&M stores until I found my size. Luckily Herald Square in midtown is a perfect example of NYC convenience and excess - the area has three huge, multi-level H&M stores within a block of each other.

The presence of three H&M mega stores in one square block is also another sign that "fast fashion" from the top three retail giants H&M, Zara, and Uniqlo is still strong and rising. For those unfamiliar with the term, "fast fashion" refers to retailers whose business model allows them quickly respond to and offer the latest fashion trends in stores within an average cycle of just a month rather than the traditional 3 - 6 months.

But I digress. We're in lovely Washington Square Park today in the middle of Greenwich Village. And while palm trees don't exist here, this romper does help channel a bit of the tropics in a little slice of the city. Just a little, but for me, good enough.
