The Overall Mood

You know that fashion trend you rocked, only years later to wonder, "What the hell was I thinking?" For me, it's overalls. If you grew up during the late 80's and early 90's, you know what I'm talking about. Case and point:

As cringe-worthy as they are in retrospect, the overalls are back in the limelight with a vengeance. Some of you may have sworn off overalls, while others can't wait to bust a move in these things. Despite this controversial fashion comeback, I have to admit, I've been won over by the abundance of new styles. I picked up my casual overalls at, no suprise, Aritiza. If you haven't been following the blog, I mentioned my rather large haul at Aritiza from a few weeks back. This soft, army green pair of overalls seductively whispered my name from across the store. Before I knew it, they were in my shopping bag.

For those who are ready to embrace this trend, be careful how you wear your overalls. Firstly, do not, I repeat, do not unclasp one shoulder! Secondly, before you step out of the house, make sure you've chosen a silhouette and fit that accentuates your best bits. What I love about this pair from Aritzia is the draw-string waist that provides shape and definition to what could potentially look like a potato sack. And yes, overalls can also be pretty chic! In fact, I have my eye on a more fitted leather pair, worn with a flowy top, and high-heeled booties for fall.
